Mommy Makeovers in Chicago

What Is It?

About the Surgery

Many moms are healthy enough to combine several procedures into a single surgical session. Your health and safety are primary concerns of Dr. Steinwald, so Mommy Makeovers are only performed at Lake Forest Hospital with a board-certified anesthesiologist administering anesthesia. Great care is taken to minimize potential cardiac, pulmonary or blood clot-related complications, and patients are strongly encouraged to stay overnight for close monitoring and pain control.

It is important to have adequate support at home as well, since there is usually 1-2 weeks of significant "downtime" involved. Aside from the benefit of undergoing only one recovery period (which is not much longer or more uncomfortable than recovery for one or the other procedure would be otherwise), the patient usually also realizes a significant cost savings from these combined procedures, especially if an insurance-based procedure is to be performed. For example, if a patient's breasts are large enough to qualify for a breast reduction, or she is undergoing a "necessary" procedure such as tube-tying or a hysterectomy, the anesthesia and hospital cost savings of having an additional cosmetic procedure performed concurrently can be considerable.
