Illinois/Chicago Area Plastic Surgery Procedures:
Restylane® and Juvederm® Soft Tissue Augmentation
HOLIDAY SPECIAL in progress for Injectables! During the month of December 2007, receive 10% off either BOTOX® Cosmetic anti-wrinkle injections or Restylane®/Juvederm® soft tissue fillers (Lake Forest office only). Have both, and enjoy 20% off the second procedure!
Restylane®, is an FDA-approved injectable soft-tissue injectable filler, which is especially useful for peri-oral wrinkles. This is a purified form of hyaluronic-acid, a compound found in the tissues of all living organisms (particularly cartilage), which is formulated as a clear gel. When this is injected into facial folds or wrinkles, it binds water, which maintains its "viscoelasticity", and more effectively fills in these defects and/or augments the soft tissue (as compared to collagen). The effect usually lasts for approximately 6-8 months, during which it naturally metabolizes and disappears.

Case #1: 46 year-old woman, approximately 0.6cc Restylane® infiltrated into nasolabial fold,
upper lip areas; 6 weeks post-procedure.

Case #2: 56 year-old woman, approximately 1.0cc Restylane® infiltrated into nasolabial folds,
upper lip areas, including vertical lines; immediately post-procedure.

Case #3: Photo taken during procedure demonstrating immediate filling/smoothing effect of Restylane® (injected into patient's right upper lip only at this point).
Lake Forest Plastic Surgery is also excited to be able to offer Juvederm®, introduced this year by Allergan, Inc. (makers of BOTOX). This is a more highly crosslinked, purified gel which has similar indications for use, and is especially useful for augmenting the lips. Juvederm® comes in two formulations: Ultra, and Ultra Plus, for deeper wrinkles and folds. It likely lasts somewhat longer, but otherwise is metabolized in a similar manner.

Case #4: 41 year-old woman, approximately 0.8cc of Juvederm® Ultra (one syringe) infiltrated principally across the upper lip, to enhance its contour, as well as into the nasolabial folds, ; immediately post-procedure.
If you are interested in either of these minimally invasive but highly effective office-based procedures, please feel free to call our office to schedule a consultation.
