"Mommy Makeovers" generally describes a combination of cosmetic procedures usually performed concurrently, and principally designed to address the post-partum changes to the breasts (sagging, a "deflation" effect) and the abdomen (general tissue laxity, lower abdominal bulge, stretch marks, etc.), to help recent moms in the Chicago-area to "get their bodies back." Often times patients are healthy enough to undergo both major procedures in the same sitting, and ancillary procedures such as liposuction or facial injectables to address finer wrinkles can even be performed. Importantly, as your safety is our primary concern, these procedures are only performed at Lake Forest Hospital with a board-certified anesthesiologist administering anesthesia. Great care is taken to minimize potential cardiac, pulmonary or blood clot-related complications, and patients are strongly encouraged to stay overnight for close monitoring and pain control.

Aside from the benefit of undergoing only one recovery period (which is not much longer or more uncomfortable than recovery for one or the other procedure would be otherwise), the patient usually also realizes a significant cost savings from these combined procedures. For example, if a patient's breast size is large enough to qualify for a breast reduction, or she is undergoing a "necessary" procedure such as tube-tying or a hysterectomy, the anesthesia and hospital cost savings of having an additional ("aesthetic") procedure performed concurrently can be considerable.
