Laser Skin Resurfacing

Deeper, long-lasting wrinkles of the face, or mildly lax skin in general, may be treated superficially using the CO2 laser. This is a procedure performed under light anesthesia, which literally exfoliates and tightens the skin. Because of concerns regarding pigmentation changes, the face is usually treated in "facial units", or preferably, in its entirety. Erythema (or redness) may persist for several weeks, and one must be careful in the sun for several months thereafter, but this is one of the more aggressive ways to treat finer facial wrinkles, which are not always improved via more invasive surgical therapies (i.e. facelift) anyway.
