Breast surgery in general is challenging on a number of levels, and therefore long-term complications resulting from any of the aforementioned procedures is not uncommon. Long-term complications from prior breast surgeries may include capsular contracture (scarring around implants creating discomfort or distortion), implant rupture, asymmetry/contour irregularity, nipple or skin loss, or prominent scarring. Because we offer a relative expertise in breast surgery, we have seen referrals for each of these problems over the past several years.

The goal of breast surgery revision therefore ranges from implant exchanges/repositioning, to release/revision of problematic scarring, to total nipple or breast reconstruction. This of couse depends on individual patient's needs/desires. Prior operative reports are always useful, so if you might need breast surgery revision, please request these operative reports and bring them with you, if possible.
